   अगर मैच में हर पक्ष के लिए केवल एक पारी है तो हर पारी के लिए की अधिकतम गेंदों की संख्या अक्सर निश्चित कर दी जाती है.इस तरह के मैच सीमित ओवरों के मैच या एक दिवसीय मैच कहलाते हैं और विकेटों की संख्या को ध्यान में न रखते हुए अधिक रन बनाने वाली टीम जीत जाती है. जिससे ड्रा नहीं हो सकता है.यदि इस प्रकार का मैच अस्थायी रूप से ख़राब मौसम के कारण बाधित हो जाता है तो एक जटिल गणितीय सूत्र जो डकवर्थ -लुईस पद्धति कहलाती है उसके मध्यम से एक नया लक्ष्य स्कोर फ़िर से आकलित किया जाता है.एक दिवसीय मैच को भी परिणाम रहित घोषित किया जा सकता है यदि किसी एक टीम के द्वारा पूर्व निर्धारित ओवर डाले जा चुके हैं और किसी परिस्थिती जैसे गीले मौसम के कारण आगे खेल को नहीं खेला जा सकता है.
